Pen on paper sketching, with sleeves rolled up, is a crucial part of my design process and one of the most enjoyable part of my day.

When I sketch to design, I try to start off with a direction and a purpose. But often I find that I discover new designs and ideas as I sketch, rather than just copying my thoughts down on paper, the sketch becomes the playground in which I form new shapes and ideas. Sometimes my pen would move in mysterious ways and create a shape I did not anticipate.

Sketching can also be frustrating at times. One of those days where your hand just doesn't want to play with pen and paper, and every lines are jagged and every circle you draw are wonky. But it's only when I persevere through these times I find myself improving and becoming a better designer.
